Springfield Township – Akron, Ohio
Springfield Township is located to the Southeast of Akron situated between the little Cuyahoga River and the Tuscarawas River. Located in the center of the township is Springfield Lake, which is fed by an underground spring known as a “Kettle” lake. At Springfield Lake there is a boat launch, picnic tables, fishing areas (including a dock and pier). In the summer Springfield Lake is home for family fun; which includes Rock the Docks this weekend is filled with food, rides, music and fireworks.
There are five highways that pass through Springfield Township U.S. 224, State Routes 91, 241, 532, and Interstate 76.
Schools are under the Springfield Local School District, there are three Elementary Schools and one Junior High School; within the Township is the Village of Lakemore which is home to Springfield High School. This community is also home to more than a dozen churches of various denominations.
